Decarabia does not present himself with a body: the manuscript has him appear as a star within a pentacle, and only afterwards, if commanded, does he take the image of a man. The spellings Carabia and Becarabia are attested in the copies; the origin of the name is not established. He is a Marquis, and therefore the Moon, with thirty legions. His competence is the virtues of herbs and precious stones, knowledge proper to medieval pharmacopoeia and lapidary lore, and he makes birds appear that fly, sing and drink, delivered as familiars. He is one of the few whose manner of manifestation coincides with a traced sign.
