The name, "great and exalted God", comes from three letters of the 72-letter name and the suffix -EL, the mark of divine power in kabbalistic nomenclature. He opens the choir of the Principalities, who according to Pseudo-Dionysius watch over nations, cities and collectivities, with Haniel as archangel, from 23 to 27 November. He is invoked to lift the spirit, to attain magnanimity and to dispose oneself to praise. His counterpart is Crocell, who teaches geometry and makes unseen waters sound: hidden depth against declared ascent.
