Here the suffix -IAH, which the tradition refers to mercy, crowns three letters drawn from the 72-letter versions of the Shem HaMephorash: Hahasiah, "hidden and impenetrable God". He is counted among the Principalities, the choir that according to Pseudo-Dionysius governs nations and collective bodies, with Haniel at their head, from 3 to 7 December. He is invoked for knowledge of the virtues of minerals and plants, and for healing. Balam, his counterpart, answers for past and future and grants invisibility: concealment against healing disclosure.
