Mebahiah, "eternal God", receives three letters of the 72-letter name kabbalah extracts from Exodus 14:19-21, plus the suffix -IAH, which the tradition ties to mercy. He belongs to the Principalities, the choir that in Pseudo-Dionysius watches over whole peoples, under Haniel, from 22 to 26 December. He is invoked for the consolation of the afflicted, for uprightness of conduct and for offspring. His counterpart is Orobas, held to be a faithful spirit who does not deceive the operator: fidelity bargained for against fidelity owed.
