Three letters of the Shem HaMephorash, taken from the 72-letter versions that kabbalah reads in Exodus 14:19-21, plus the suffix -EL, which points to power: so Rehael is composed, "God swift to forgive". He corresponds to the Powers, the choir charged in Pseudo-Dionysius with containing whatever disorders, with Camael as archangel, from 4 to 8 October. Kabbalistic practice calls on him for health and for reconciling parents and children. His counterpart, Malphas, builds and tears down and mocks whoever offers him sacrifice: repair against ruin.
