El nombre procede de las tres letras que le corresponden en las versiones de setenta y dos letras del Shemhamphorash, extraídas de Éxodo 14:19-21, cerradas con el sufijo -IAH, que en la tradición remite a la misericordia divina: «Dios elevado y exaltado». Lenain lo sitúa entre los Serafines, el coro que arde inmediato al trono, bajo el arcángel Metatrón, del 21 al 25 de marzo. Se le invoca para sostener la voluntad y abrir empresas nuevas. En la Goetia de Rudd constriñe a Bael, rey que otorga invisibilidad: ocultarse frente a comenzar a la vista.

The name is built from the three letters allotted to it in the seventy-two-letter versions of the Shem HaMephorash, drawn from Exodus 14:19-21, and sealed with the suffix -IAH, which in the tradition points to divine mercy: "God raised up and exalted." Lenain places it among the Seraphim, the choir that burns closest to the throne, under the archangel Metatron, from 21 to 25 March. It is invoked to steady the will and open new undertakings. In Rudd's Goetia it constrains Bael, the king who grants invisibility: concealment set against beginning in plain sight.
