Formed from three letters of the Shem HaMephorash and the suffix -EL, which the tradition ties to power, this name is rendered "God alone." Lenain places it among the Thrones, the choir that upholds judgement in the hierarchy of Pseudo-Dionysius, under Tsaphkiel, from 2 to 6 July. It is invoked against slanderers and for perseverance in study. Its Goetic pair is Marax, who teaches astronomy and grants familiar spirits: knowledge received from a servant against knowledge won by labour.
