Tap, Goap and Gaap are variants of the same name, with no established origin. He unites a presidency and a princedom, Mercury and Jupiter, over sixty-six legions, among the highest figures in the book, and the text specifies that he appears when the Sun is in the southern signs, preceded by four great kings. His services are those of manipulation and of transport: he makes men insensible or ignorant, provokes love and hatred, teaches philosophy and the liberal sciences, and carries men from one kingdom to another. That last power acts upon bodies rather than upon knowledge, which is uncommon in the catalogue.
