The trio of letters that names it comes from the Shem HaMephorash and carries the suffix -EL, a mark of power; the name means "God the creator." Its choir is that of the Cherubim, who guard knowledge in the hierarchy of Pseudo-Dionysius, governed by Raziel, from 1 to 5 June. It is invoked for purity of intention and for work in the sciences and the arts.
